Carol of the Bells
Carol of the Bells
Hark how the
Sweet silver bells,
All seem to say,
Throw cares away
Christmas is here, Рождество пришло,
Bringing good cheer,
To young and old, Молодому и старому,
Meek and the bold.
Ding-dong ding-dong
That is their song
With joyful ring,
All caroling.
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From everywhere
Filling the air.
Oh how they pound,
Raising the sound,
O'er hill and dale,
Telling their tale.
Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here.
Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas,
Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas!
On on they send,
On without end,
Their joyful tone
To every home.
Ding-dong ding-dong...

"Carol of the
Bells" is a popular Christmas carol composed by Mykola Leontovych in 1904 with lyrics by Peter
J. Wilhousky. The song is based on a folk chant known in Ukrainian as "Shchedryk". The song is based on a traditional
folk chant. It was associated with the coming New Year, which,
in pre-Christian Ukraine,
was originally celebrated with the coming of spring in April. (This explains
why the original Ukrainian text speaks about a swallow returning and lambs
being born.)
With the introduction
of Christianity to Ukraine, and the adoption of the Julian calendar, the celebration of the New Year was moved from April to January, and
the holiday with which the chant was originally associated became Shchedry vechir, the eve of the
Julian New Year (the night of 13–14 January in the Gregorian calendar). The songs sung for this celebration are known as Shchedrivky.

Without the paints, without brushes

There is a
little green house;
And in the
little green house
There is a
little brown house;
And in the
little brown house
There is a
little yellow house;
And in the
little yellow house
There is a
little white house;
And in the
little white house
There is a
white little heart.
(nut)
I am a
little red animal
So busy as
can be,
I gather
some acorns
For the
winter food for me.
(squirrel)
This animal
is small.
It lives in
the woods
And runs
very fast.
It just
afraid of everything.
What animal
is it?
